Vladis Spāre

Vladis Spāre (1953) is a Latvian prose writer. Spāre made a debut in literature with a collection of stories titled Mēs atradīsim [We shall Find] (1987), and later introduced his ironical and unique style of writing in the novel Neprāta šarms [The Charm of Madness] in 1992. One of the best known literary projects Spāre has been involved in is the book he co-authored with Juris Zvirgzdiņš and Lienīte Medne-Spāre - Odu laiks [The Time of Odes]. Besides being a writer Vladis Spāre is also the publisher of "Vakara Ziņas" newspaper, publisher and editor in chief of the literary magazine "Tīrraksts", and the editor of "Jaunā Gaita". You Can't Get All You Want has been shortlisted for the Annual Latvian Literature Award 2016.
