Biography

Lienīte Medne-Spāre (1956) is a writer and editor. She studied French Language and Literature, Faculty of Foreign Languages at the University of Latvia. Lienīte Medne-Spāre has worked as the editor-in-chief of the publishing house “Artava”. Together with authors Vladis Spāre and Juris Zvirgzdiņš has published the novel Odu laiks [The time of Odes]. Her collection of stories Dziedošās smiltis [Singing Sand] was shortlisted for the Annual Latvian Literature Award 2020. Short stories by Lienīte Medne-Spāre have been published in the magazines “Liesma”, “Avots”, “Latvju Teksti”, “Jaunā Gaita” and in the literary newspaper “konTEKSTS”.
