Biography

Haralds Matulis, born in 1979, is a translator, critic and general secretary of The Council of the Creative Unions of Latvia. After graduating Riga State Gymnasium No. 1, he went on to study at the Music School Rīdze. Matulis graduated from the University of Latvia with a Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Philosophy, also has studied Social Anthropology, musical composition, and entered the European Film College in Denmark (2005 – 2006). He is a guest lecturer at the Liepāja University where he teaches courses in Culture Philosophy, and Creative Thinking and Self-Management of Creative Persons. Matulis has written, translated and written critiques for many literary texts. His main research fields cover Creativity,  Philosophy, Games Theory, and visual communication. He speaks fluently in three languages. He is among the central figures in the public dialogue about the status and social security of artists and people in the creative industries in Latvia.
