Gundars Ignats
Biography
Gundars Ignats (born in 1981, Valmiera) is a Latvian prose writer. He started publishing his works in 2004 in Rīgas Laiks and since then has been publishing his stories in various magazines. His first book, a collection of short stories Bez Jakas/Without a Jacket (2009), was well reviewed by critics and he is a frequent participant in the Prose Readings where his prose has been awarded prizes and recognized by the readers. Translations of his short stories have been included in short prose anthologies in France, Sweden and Lithuania. His first novel Pārbaudes laiks/ Trial Period (2013) was shortlisted for the Annual Latvian Literature Award.
