Atis Klimovičs
Biography
Atis Klimovičs is a Latvian writer, reporter and journalist, special correspondent for Diena newspaper, interviewer. Klimovičs is known for his extensive work and insight in international conflict, world politics and hot-spot reporting – since the 1990's, he has travelled to war zones in Georgia for over 20 times. In 2015, he translated the seminal political work of Yuri Felshtinsky, Vladimir Pribylovsky, The Corporation: Russia and the KGB in the Age of President Putin. His book Personiskā Latvija. Divdesmitā gadsimta stāsti/The Personal Latvia. Stories from the 20th Century is a unique look at the 20th century in Latvia, a history told through the stories of eye-witnesses. In this work, Klimovičs asserts that history is the lived reality and human experience. The book consists of 38 interviews-stories, and received the Annual Latvian Literature Award's Special Prize in 2011.
