Biography

Reinis Pētersons (1981) is fast and brilliant as a rocket – having made his début as an illustrator in 2007, making a few outstanding animation films in the meantime. There is a strong backbone to his aesthetics that brings balance to the great diversity of his techniques: from traditional media as charcoal and ink to digital painting and drawing. With great attention to character detail, he captures authentic emotion through expressive and frequently grotesque representation. While Pētersons delivers a consistent and recognizable style in his illustrative work, he is no stranger to artistic experimentation. His animation films also have received acclaim in local and international film festivals.
